A mel spectrogram, also known as a mel-frequency spectrogram or mel-scaled spectrogram, is a representation of the frequency content of an audio signal. It is derived from the traditional [[spectrogram]], which visualizes the distribution of frequencies over time, but represents the evolution in time of the [[mel-frequency spectrum]] instead of the [[short-time Fourier transform (STFT)]].
